Asked a question a few days ago about being indicted over marijuana...have another question?

They said because my husband "got rid of the marijuana" while in his car, they seized the vehicle (even though the vehicle is in my name too)... They did not arrest him. They say he was "busted" back in March (they showed up at our doorstep last Thursday to seize the car) and said he is being indicted sometime in August. I thought the catch phrase was Innocent until proven guilty? Right? So if that is the case why did they take his car before he was found guilty? And they have told us if we don't wear a wire on the main dude in town to get him busted, they were going to hand the car over to the state to sell in the car auction and after they hand it over to the state I only have 30 days to pay 350$ to file a petition to see if I could "buy" my car back from the state. Even with me paying the 350$ the state can tell me no, but if we screw over this main guy they will "give us our car back" even though narking on the main guy is dangerous and puts myself and my 4 young children at risk. I'm just wondering if this is all legal and if I should just get a lawyer? I'm just scared that I don't have enough time for legalities and the police are going to hand over my car before my lawyer can get involved..
