Is having a non traditional baby shower okay or tacky?

My mom and MIL are throwing us (husband and I) a baby shower this Sunday. It's not going to be a traditional baby shower by any means. We're going to be cooking hamburgers, hot dogs, grilled chicken, steaks and using our smoker to make pulled pork shoulder BBQ sandwiches. We'll also have some sort of fruit platter and vegetable tray along with other random foods, chips, dip, sweets etc. It's a co-ed shower so there'll be both men and women. Would it be weird if we didn't do any games or decorations? I really hate all that fru fru crap and would just rather it be a nice cook out with close friends and family. There will also be alcohol (not for me obviously lol). Does this sound strange to you? Have you ever been to a baby shower/cook out type shin dig? I didn't register because this isn't really about gifts and insisted they not even give me a shower in the first place since I already had one with my first 4 years ago.
