Driving ticket question?

i got a ticket yesterday for driving alone with my learner's permit, but the cop was nice enough to tell me that he'll dismiss the ticket if i get my actual license before the court date. the cop told me that the judge would ask me if i i was guilty, not guilty or no contest. what am i suppose to answer if i do get my license before the court date? and how is the whole court thing set up? the cop told me to signal him if i did get my license... but im not sure if i'll be able to spot him. would it be just him in the court or a bunch of cops? help!
