I think you were perhaps a little fired up at the time you asked her to call him, which would have put her straight on the defensive, but, I do agree that if she wants to work on the relationship with you then she has to cut ties with the guy. She is lucky you haven't dumped her, as cheating is a deal-breaker and I would leave in this scenario too. If you can't move past it though, you should just cut ties with her. It is unhealthy for a child to be bought up in a hostile environment, so you are probably doing him/her more harm than good if the tension between you and your wife is bad.
