Which is a better language to take.. Chinese or Japanese?

Right now, I'm studying Spanish along with Japanese. I just started memorizing the whole Hiragana (1st alphabet in Japanese) and the basic greetings, but I keep hearing that Mandarin Chinese is a better language to learn because of China's business economy. People also say Japanese gets easier to learn after learning Mandarin because most of the Kanji came from Chinese characters. But I'm not really sure? Should I stop studying Japanese for now and start learning Chinese? I'm a really quick learner to let you know just in case I decide to switch. Thanks for answering.
